The Wine Garage turned Napa Valley upside down in 2003 when Todd Miller and his wife Joy
opened this eclectic wine shop in an old garage in the funky town of Calistoga.
Their philosophy: No wine over $25; everything must taste great before it goes on the shelf;
no wine snob attitudes; mpeccable and personal customer service; no wine questions go
unanswered, or are deemed insignificant; have fun…It’s only fermented grape juice!
Everyone thought they were crazy. Selling wine in Napa Valley that didn’t have a 3 figure
price tag? Selling wine in Napa Valley that was from those “other” wine growing regions?
Helping people learn about wine who were novices? Suggesting a lesser expensive choice
because the customer would have better enjoyment? Ludicrous they said!
Wine Garage now produces four wines under their own label: Cabernet, Pinot Noir,
Sauvignon Blanc and Joy Ride, a delicious blend of 40 % albarino 30% Sauv Blanc 25%
Viognier 5% Muscat Canelli.
Todd Miller recently received the coveted title of Napa Valley's King of Chopped Liver when
his entry, 'Grandma Sadie's Old Fashioned Chopped Liver' swept the field of contestants
consisting of a noted Napa Valley chef, a restaurateur, and a couple of just plain old Jewish
dudes with decades of chopped liver making experience. Although not born from a Jewish
mother, he has traced his lineage to a Great Great Grandfather named Israel, and his life long
attraction to Jewish women (including his wife), coupled with the winning chopped liver recipe,
must point to at least some Jewish blood for this 'Goy with the most Oye (vey)'. Go on up to
the Wine Garage to sample the victorious chopped chicken liver yourself paired with Todd's
2006 Napa Valley Zinfandel.
