Diamond Creek is California's first exclusively Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Vineyard. Al Brounstein, a visionary pioneer, established the vineyard in 1968, defying modern conventions by planting Bordeaux varietals on secluded Diamond Mountain in Calistoga. Last year, L'Chaim to Life! honored Boots and Al Brounstein. Tonight, in celebration of the Al Brounstein Meritorious Service Award presentation to her dear friend, Art Finkelstein, Boots is offered A Day at Diamond Creek for eight. The lucky winning bidder will bring seven guests for a catered picnic at Diamond Creek Vineyards prepared by Brannan's Restaurant in Calistoga and served with Diamond Creek wines. Plus, Boots will provide a private tour of this legendary property and the winning bidder will stay overnight in the Diamond Creek guestroom overlooking one of Al Brounstein's waterfalls. That's not all! As a bonus take home from the winery a magnum of Diamond Creek's Lake wine. Developed by Al in 1972, Lake Vineyard is a three-quarter-acre parcel of gravel and sand with the chilliest microclimate on the estate. The grapes require a long hang time to ripen, and when they do, they make an exceptional wine. In fact, Lake wines have been produced only eight times since 1972. This offering is indeed a very rare magnum from one of the greatest Cabernet estates of California.
